Foundations of Health and Wellness Coaching (Level 1 & 2) is a 2-part coaching program that combines both foundation theory learning and practical application skills you need to gain an understanding of how coaching can enhance your work.
Level 1 introduces you to the evidence based theories and models while focusing on the foundational principles and fundamentals of coaching psychology and how you can use these to connect, engage and empower people to change.
Level 2 is where you’ll start putting your theoretical learning into practice and start honing your coaching skills. This ‘live’, trainer-led course involves intensive and practical coach training where you’ll learn the critical skills for connecting clients to their deeper motivators for change, pinpointing their priorities and exploring their readiness to change for different areas of wellbeing.

- Health, fitness and wellness professionals who are looking to learning coaching skills as a professional development, and to add these skills within their current client services.
- Anyone who is interested in training as a Health and Wellness Coach yet is not quite ready to enrol in a larger qualification course and is looking for a short course to “dip their toe in the water
Level 1 and 2 will enable you to:
- Understand the need for a new approach to helping people create lasting lifestyle changes and become familiar with the broad principles of coaching
- Recognise and practice the skills involved in building trust and rapport with a client and demonstrate three core coaching skills – mindful listening, open-ended inquiry and reflecting

Conduct an initial planning session with a client which will result in:
- a vision statement of what the client wants and the motivation behind the desire to change
- a set of appropriate three month goals and weekly goals based on process rather than outcomes
- Be introduced to the theories of positive psychology, the transtheoretical model for coach and motivational interviewing and how they can be used to help clients move through ambivalence and gain hope and optimism in their lives
- Understand the scope of practice of the health and wellness coach and recognise when a client should be referred to an alternative health professional

If you choose the online learning format, you will receive access to the Level 1 online learning portal straight away. Access to the Level 2 learning will be available 1 week prior to the first webinar.
All workshop participants receive a hard copy booklet on arrival at the workshop. For those choosing the online format, as this is presented as a video program and live webinar sessions, we provide digital resources through to support the practical learning. A final Level 1 and 2 takeaway student guide is made available as a PDF at the end of the course from the learning portal however hard copies are not available.
You have 3 months from time the Level 2 course ends to complete and submit the final course completion tasks in the learning portal
